In just two minutes, the lives of thousands were devastated in Syria and Türkiye on February 6, after the catastrophic earthquakes. Over 52,000 were killed, thousands were injured, and hundreds of thousands were left without a home; many were displaced yet again.
Amidst an already severe humanitarian crisis in Northwest Syria, which hosts 4.55 million, nearly 2/3 of which are Internally Displaced People. The earthquakes caused severe damage in both Syria and Türkiye.
The risk of aftershocks is very likely, and the death toll is expected to rise as rescue operations continue. Only in Northwest Syria:
From the very first moment after the earthquake, UOSSM launched 10 Health Mobile Clinics and 6 nutrition, and community health teams as an urgent response for affected people, in addition to already available 7 hospitals, 14 Primary Health Care Centers, 7 Specialized health care centers, 62 Ambulance Cars, and two protection centers.
All those facilities have responded to + 51,000 beneficiaries. More than 1,300 surgeries and 80,000 consultations were provided. There are still hundreds of thousands of people in urgent need. for emergency health services, mental health, and psycho-social support.

Donate NowUOSSM (Union des Organisations de Secours et Soins Médicaux) is a non-profit, non-governmental organization (NGO) that provides medical aid and healthcare services to those affected by crises in Syria and other countries. UOSSM was established in 2012 in France, Paris.
The organization provides quality health services by operating medical facilities and emergency medical care, including trauma care and surgery. Its primary operations are in areas affected in Syria. UOSSM supports primary healthcare, mental health, and maternal and child health services. In addition, UOSSM conducts medical training programs and advocacy efforts to raise awareness about the medical needs of the Syrian people.
UOSSM has executed projects in Syria, Turkey, Lebanon, Jordan, Ukraine, Bangladesh, Yamen, and Mozambique. Through the UOSSM union and offices worldwide, including the USA, Canada, France, England, and Swiss, the organization has received support from various international organizations, including the United Nations, the World Health Organization, GIZ, and the European Union.
In the Syrian Mission, in parallel and in addition to the emergency response to the earthquake, regular activities and ordinary health services still occur. In fact, during 2022, UOSSM’s operated facilities provided nearly 1.5 M services (1,436,046 services)
